Welcome to the page for the remix competition.
Our next release is a double CD, with the
second CD being all remixes of the original
album. This is your chance to be included
on the remix CD - with a remix that YOU
DO.
Please check back regularly for updates
regarding mix status etc.
We will be adding more songs over the next
few weeks as we finalise the vocals for
them.
Deadline for the competition is April 2008.

Q. Can I
remix more than one track?
A. Yes, do as many as you want!
Q. How many versions of my remix do you want?
A. We would like your main remix - plus an instrumental version of the same remix (in case we have to re-edit).
Q. How many
remixes of each song do you want?
A. It really depends on how good the remixes are. BUT because of the physical limitations
of an audio CD, we could only fit about
14 remixes depending on the length. We might
have more space available once we start
getting the remixes coming in. So it's possible
that you have more than one remix on the
CD - but time will tell.
Q. Are there
any creative restrictions on the mix?
A. No. You are free to do whatever you want.
We encourage creativity.
Q. What is
in the remix kit?
A. We provide you with the complete vocal
files, usually mixed dry. We start all the
vocals at bar zero. All you do is load them
into your audio program and line them up
so they all start at the same time, and
away you go!
Format is 44.1 kHz 16bit.
(we downsampled for compatibility reasons)
Q. Can I have
the original instrumental parts?
A. No. We prefer that you start from scratch.
Makes it more fun for you!
Q. What is
the MIDI file for?
A. Often it's useful to have the chord structure
for a song when doing a remix. Saves you
from figuring out which chords we used.
(Except in the one song where we just used
two notes....!!)
Q. What is
the deadline for the mixes?
A. February 2008. We are still in
the process of recording the album ourselves,
and hope that everything is completed by
then!
Q. What format
should I send the finished remix?
A. We prefer 24bit 48kHz Stereo WAV or AIFF.
We prefer that you use www.zshare.net
This keeps costs to a minimum. If you need to send via snail-mail then our address is
THE TENTH STAGE - PO BOX 34, MELBOURNE 3001, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA
Q. Should
I master my remix before sending it in?
A. No. We will be getting mastering done.
We prefer an unmastered mix please.
Q. Will I
get a copy of the CD when it's done?
A. Yes, it's the least we can do! Make sure
you send us your postal address.
Q. Will I
get paid for the remix?
A. No. These mixes are done on a purely
voluntary basis.
Your benefit is that you get a mix released
on a CD with a wide distribution network,
and you get free publicity.
Our benefit is that we get a CD with some
awesome remixes.
The end result is that WE ALL get more publicity,
our profiles are raised, and people start
talking!!
Q. Will you
credit me on the CD?
A. Yes, of course. You need to send in the
exact wording for the title of the remix,
and your name as you want it to appear on
CD. We would like to include your website
address as well on the CD, but this depends
on how much space we have on the sleeve.
We will definitely include your full details
on our website.
Q. Will my
remix appear anywhere else?
A. Yes, we will probably use some 30 second
snippets on myspace/facebook etc.
